In fashion, SHOWstudio interview

Anna De La Russo, Editor at Large and Creative Consultant for Japanese Vogue, is such an inspiration for me. She's such a powerful force in the fashion industry, has an unabashed fashion sense and is completely self made. This re-post from her bog contains a beautiful video interview from SHOWstudio. Please enjoy.

Interview by Alex Fury 20 September 2010
Our latest In Fashion interview profiles a woman who seems to be at the front
of everyone's minds, a name on the tip of everyone's tongues,
and a look at the top of everyone's best dressed list -
the indefatigable, inimitable and incredible Anna Dello Russo.
Dello Russo's rise to fame as the self-declared 'passionate fashionista' everyone loves seems meteoric, exploding from a
fashion insider to a public figurehead for the industry.
In the last year alone she has released a perfume, graced the cover and lead editorial of 10 Magazine and even stamped photographs of herself in her ten favourite outfits across a limited-edition range of t-shirts for yoox.com
(those sold out within a day).
However, Dello Russo herself describes her story as a Cinderella tale:
her day at the ball only came after almost two decades of near-invisibility,
working at Vogue Italia, L'Uomo Vogue and finally in her current position
as Editor at Large and Creative Consultant for Japanese Vogue.

Perfectly Edited Style

Minimalism at its best.

Lately, all I've been hearing about is the "new minimalism". It was all over the runways for Spring 2011, yet I find it hard to employ in a chic way. I love how this woman embodies the look while adding an edge. From the length of the pant to the detail of the jacket, it's effortless and gorgeous (and the bicycle doesn't hurt).

Interestingly, Bill Cunningham of the NY Times reported on the "Style Wars" happening in NY. He contrasts the trend of minimalism, as shown by the fashion industry, versus what Bill calls an "escapism" happening on the street. I'm not sure it's so black and white. The best part of styling is the combination of styles and themes.

5 Ways To Wear Belts With Dresses by Refinery29

Essential styling tips:

5 Ways To Wear Belts With Dresses: "One of the most effective ways to gussy up a dress is to belt it—but by the same token, it's also one of the most effective ways to ruin a dress. The belted dress has become a mainstream styling trick, but if we only had a nickel for every time we've seen it done wrong, we'd be on the cover of Forbes Magazine. Commit these rules to memory: Never belt an empire dress (or any dress that draws attention to your bust, for that matter), there are few reasons to ever belt a dress anywhere other than your natural waistline, and you should never buy a dress that comes with a pre-installed belt. Besides those no-nos, belted dresses are ultra-complimentary, is a smart way to add a layer of texture, and updates out-of-style frocks. Click through for five of our favorite ways to wear belts with dresses."
